Alamo Rent A Car does not accept “insurance waiver cards” issued by travel companies as guarantee of payment for vehicle damage and so advises customers who present such cards. The customer is not obligated to take any of the above coverages, but will be held responsible for any damages incurred.

*Optional Coverage Rates are Subject to Change.

VIII. Gasoline Options

At the time of rental, customers choose one of two gas options depending on what is most convenient for them. In either case, the car is always rented with a full tank of gas.

  • Option A: The renter pre-pays for a full tank of gas at the start of the rental — at a price-per-gallon competitive with the full-service prices at local gas stations (plus any taxes that apply).
  • Option B: Prior to returning the car, the customer must either stop and fill the gas tank or pay the car rental agency to refuel it for them upon return. If the renter chooses to have the car rental agency refuel the tank upon return, the renter only pays for the fuel used, but at a price which is substantially higher than the Option A gas or what the local gas stations typically charge.

IX. Infant Car Seats

Hawaii State Law requires use of infant car seats for children under four (4) years of age. Customers are responsible for securing the child seat in the rental vehicle.

Law-compliant infant seats are available upon request — for $15.00 - 30 per day — on all islands at the time the reservation is made.

In the event an infant seat has been lost or stolen, a $100 charge will be applied to the rental.

X. Seat Belts

Hawaii State Law requires the use of seat belts for driver and front-seat passengers at all times.

Hawaii State Law also requires that all back-seat passengers between the ages of four (4) and seventeen (17) use seat belts.

XI. Hand Controls

We will confirm a request for hand controls within 48 hours if the request is made between noon Sunday through noon Friday. The failure to provide us with a timely request for hand controls may mean that we cannot fulfill your request if hand controls, or trained personnel to install the hand controls, or vehicles suitable for installation of hand controls, are not readily available due to the untimely request. If you intend to cancel your reservation, we request that you contact us so that we may remove the hand controls following your cancellation.

At the time of a request for hand controls, in order to more readily accommodate you, please advise us whether the hand controls should be installed on the left side, or the right side, of the steering wheel.

Hand controls can only be installed in specific car models, as follows:

  • 2-door Full-Size (such as the Chevrolet Monte Carlo, or similar-in-class)
  • 4-door Full-Size (such as the Chevrolet Impala, or similar-in-class)
  • Minivan

We recommend that individuals with disabilities who use a wheelchair and who are traveling alone request a 2-door vehicle. We have found, through experience, that such customers can more easily put the wheelchair in the rear seat in a 2-door vehicle, as compared to doing so in a 4-door vehicle.

XII. Jeep Wrangler Top Removal

The Jeep Wrangler top and windows are removable. If renter elects to remove and/or lower any windows or the top, the renter is responsible for reinstalling same prior to return of the vehicle.

XIII. Miscellaneous

NKT-Travel Terms and Conditions:

  • Reservations are subject to the operational parameters and contingencies of the major car rental companies. NKT-Travel will not be held liable for situations beyond our control. We offer a free service (service free-of-charge) and therefore cannot be held responsible for any inconveniences (including but not limited to: overbooking, cancellation due to overbooking, specific car or car brand availability, etc.).
  • Tax Changes are not under our control. The State of Hawaii can change taxes at any time. This may cause the Price of your confirmed rental car to change. We can only guarantee the Base Rate before Taxes. We cannot be held responsible for Tax Increases.

Sometimes additional Fees will be charged (e.g., “upgrade to a bigger car”, “underage fee”, or “drop-off charges”, or others). Please be aware that these Fees are Taxable and that the rental car company adds the regular Taxes on top of the agreed Fees.

Since these Fees are added after our reservation confirmation — at pick-up — we cannot predict or anticipate how much this will be in total. We know exactly how much the rental will be before these fees and taxes get added — and we can only confirm this amount.

Important Information for Mileage Program Customers: Our Rates are specially-negotiated Rates. Frequent Flyer Credit may not be applicable on “Tour Package Rates” (please check with your Airline for details).
